Civic Association Inviting Both Sides to Meeting October 7th Re: Lavista Hills

First, a hat tip to all those who have been working diligently to inform our neighborhood regarding the upcoming referendum and voting on a new city of Lavista Hills that- if passed- will include our neighborhood.  The Leafmore Creek Park Hills Civic Association has been reporting on developments in the formation of new cities, including the proposed cities of Lakeside and Briarcliff, as they were known, and Lavista Hills for the past several years, and has held two meetings devoted to this subject.

On Tuesday, November 3, 2015, "qualified" voters will have the opportunity to vote in a special election to either approve the Act of the Georgia Legislature permitting the formation of the proposed City of LaVista Hills (a "yes" vote), or to keep those areas within that designated boundary as part of unincorporated DeKalb County (a "no" vote).  "Qualified" voters are believed to be voters registered by or before October 5, 2015 whose residential addresses of record are within the designated city limits of the proposed City of LaVista Hills.

A vote to either approve or reject the City of LaVista Hills is obviously an important one that could have long-term consequences on L-CPH and its residents.  So, to assist residents in making this decision, on WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 7TH, 2015, AT 7:30 PM, at the Leafmore Club Clubhouse on Altamont Drive, the Civic Association will host an informational forum open to ALL residents of L-CPH at which representatives of two organizations -- LaVista Hills Yes, which supports, and DeKalb Strong, which opposes, the City of LaVista Hills -- will make 30-minute presentations.  At the conclusion of the presentations, attendees will have 30 minutes to direct questions to each organization's representative who are, at posting time, Mr. Allen Venet of LaVista Hills Yes and Ms. Marjorie Snook of DeKalb Strong.   One should be well-informed prior to entering the voting booth.

We urge you to mark your calendars and to attend and participate in this important CA meeting.  We look forward to seeing you there -- Wednesday, October 7th, at 7:30 pm.

By hosting this informational forum with both sides represented, the CA is adopting a neutral stance regarding the respective positions and agendas of either LaVista Hills Yes or DeKalb Strong.

Thank you for your interest and voting on November 3rd!
